There are plenty of franchise opportunities right here in the UK – it’s just a case of finding the right one for you.

You might, for instance, want to choose a franchise when you can work part-time, or one which already has an established name. Then again, it might be that price is your deciding factor. If the latter is the case and you are looking for a cheap franchise opportunity in the UK then here are some of the most current ones, together with mid and high-cost franchise buy-ins.

One note of caution – if you do decide to opt for a cheap franchise then make sure it supplies everything you need. That means training, guidance and support, in addition to the physical marketing material. Otherwise, you might as well initiate your own start-up.

Low-cost franchises under £10,000

Dog lovers may well jump through hoops to sign up with My Best Friend. A dog walking, grooming and boarding service, it costs £5,999 to get started. In return you’ll get four days hands-on training and a distance-learning pack. Expected turnover in the first year is £47,000 and there are currently seven franchisees. Can be part-time or full-time.

Those interested in a residential cleaning opportunity can buy into The Beautiful Method franchise for £9,950. Billed as ‘a business in a box’, you receive a fully-loaded laptop, marketing package and equipment to get started. Can work from home managing a range of staff, although initially, you’ll be expected to supply the cleaning yourself. Can be part-time or full-time

Mid-cost franchises around £40,000

Kare Plus is a provider of health care, home care and nursing provision. The business has been around for three decades now and has 90 franchisees. To join costs £40,000. New franchisees usually break-oven within the first nine months, with one franchisee reporting her annual turnover as £6,000,000. Training is provided and there’s the option of third-party finance.

A global franchise which has set up in 16 countries and with 75 franchisees, Tutor Doctor is a fast-expanding company. That’s not exactly surprising, considering the pandemic, but even before lockdown, the company was doing well. It costs £33,000 for a franchise opportunity, for which you will receive a series of digital pre-training courses, a boot-camp programme, coach and regular business milestone reviews.

High-cost franchises starting at around £70,000

ActionCOACH is a business coaching franchise, which offers franchise opportunities for £69,000. It’s been around since 1993 and there are already 180 franchisees throughout the UK. For that, you’ll receive training and get access to around 3,500 business strategies and tactics, as well as your own personal mentor. Franchisees are predicted to make £1 million profit by year 11.

ServiceMaster Restore is a repair franchise which helps restore property following damage by fire, flood, vandalism and similar smaller disasters (such as spills and stains). It has a fine pedigree of 60 years and costs £79,000 to join. Franchisees are expected to break even in the second year. Tools and equipment are supplied, as is support and guidance. Third party financing is also there for interested franchisees. There are currently 115 Tutor Doctor franchisees signed up.
